It is my opinion that with the advent of Sheperd Paine's book, first published in 1980, and all the other great diorama artwork that has followed,the word "Diorama" as used in the traditional sense has become inadequate to describe the artwork that is going on today. I prefer to think of them as "Diodramas". Here are a few examples starting with Shep himself...... Smiley

I'm according with your tought who's similar to Shep's ideas about this matter.
Dioramas are more effective when shows dramatic situations and tells a story. One of the most impressive Shep's diorama is shown at page 11 of How to build DIORAMAS* (see image below with it's original legend).
